My motorcycle is unridable at the moment. I started replacing the brake lines with stainless steel braided ones, acquired at the moto show over the weekend, but I did not finish. I did not finish because taking off the rear seat cover area is turning out to be more difficult than I'd thought. Six fasteners, four of which need David-strength to budge. And then disconnect the seat lock cable. All this just to get at the rear brake fluid reservoir! Annoying! I replaced the front lines easily enough, but they are sans fluid until I get the rear line installed. That will probably have to wait for the weekend.

The Well in its tv conference is amusing itself by writing top-25 all-time tv show lists. I'll amuse myself by writing mine:

The Simpsons
Star Trek (original)
Babylon 5
Mary Tyler Moore
The Tonight Show (Johnny Carson edition)
The Forsyte Saga
Masterpiece Theater
Monday Night Football
Monty Python's Flying Circus
The X Files
MASH
Twin Peaks
Mystery Science Theater 3000
the Ed Sullivan Show
I Love Lucy
All in the Family
Hill Street Blues
Twilight Zone
Sesame Street
Mr Rogers' Neighborhood
Saturday Night Live
The Prisoner
The Dick Van Dyke Show
[erk]

Oh and I probably have to include "Seinfeld", though I never watched it even once. (I've never seen Hill Street Blues, either. All the rest I've seen at least one installment of.) That makes 25. Twenty-five is sort of a lot. I don't watch that much television! And I sure don't watch new television, aside from baseball. My list is probably really weird to television-watchers because of that. Like, I've never seen Buffy and I have no clue about its lasting power, so it's not on my list.

The order is "the order they came to mind", which is meaningful in some way. I doubt I could rank them usefully. Some of those are things I don't particularly like myself but that I recognize as having been important to the history of television, e.g., The Tonight Show. And I'll have you know that The Forsyte Saga appeared on lists other than mine as well. I find it defensible in the list because it was demonstrated the American appetite for costume drama, which PBS then went on to famously feed with Monsterpiece Theater, hosted by Alastair Cookie. And it was such a huge cultural event in the UK.

I wandered over the tv conference originally to learn what the Well thought about Firefly. I have learned to trust the Well consensus about movies, so I thought I'd try them on tv. They're mixed. People at work keep telling me Firefly is great, but I can't manage to remember to tell Tivo to record it. On the other hand, I ordered the entire first season of Babylon 5 from amazon today. I'll watch that again in a heartbeat. In widescreen! Woot!

Bishonen is at the vet's to get neutered today. It's probably already over with. Poor kitty. I doubt he'll miss his fluffy nuts very much, but a vet-visit is always misery. And he sure hated being deprived of kibble this morning. He's turning out to be an enormous cat, by the way. Maybe not Maine Coon enormous, and I do realize that the fluff factor makes him seem much larger than he is. But he's a loooooong cat. I wish Tab had survived. The two of them scrapping now would be an awe-inspiring sight. Not to mention noisy. The dogs have ceased being worthy adversaries for our Bishie.
